Lynette Jane Pabito

One of Ibaan's Pretty Faces around.
The first time I joined a contest was when WOWBatangas tried promoting tourist spots from different municipalities. TIA placed 3rd. This time, likes are again needed. 60% of your likes will determine a winner. Ibaeña Lynette Jane Pabito, from Brgy. Bungahan, needs your like. But be careful, click on the photo, not on the link. Competitiors have made some tricks for our votes to be counted on her, the same thing I had during a photo contest. Again, click on the photo. You want to make Ibaan proud? Then let's help her. Here's the link for her photo.

I Am Omega

I am Omega. I am 1 Terra. I am TIA.

But I am almost full, locked and loaded. I am rich with Ibaan culture. I am proud of Ibaan traditions. I am Ibaeno.

My labyrinth is about to explode. My libretto is half-turned. But I am proud.

I am not complaining. Almost two years of Ibaan is in here. If you wish to see what happened, I invite you to take a ride through my vein.

I am Omega. I am 1 Terra. I am TIA.

I am Ibaan history.

Sir Bilmore Tanyag
(I would like to express my endless gratitude to Sir Bilmore Tanyag for giving me this 1 Terra external hard drive almost two years ago. Ibaan in last two years is in here.)

The Fb "Like" Hype

Facebook has done a lot of imaginable and unimaginable wonders in our lives. It has changed everyone's lifestyle not only on the way we spend free time. It has actually become a big part the way we live our lives 24/7. Facebook, in a way, now serves as a daily staple with which one can not almost live without. A feeling of isolation surges into one's nerve if one fail to take a dive into it. Not a day would almost pass without taking a plunge into a web of interconnections among people using the most phenomenal social networking site ever created. It's the wall where we write things about our life. It's the bulletin board where we post our photos. But unlike any other wall, it ain't deaf and blank. The world is watching. Everyone is reading. Everyone is browsing. And for every post or updates that we make, admit it or not, we, consciously or unconsciously, await until someone hit the "Like" button to what we just posted.

"Like". What about it? For almost two years of being a netizen, I sometimes still get confused on what pushes others to have their forefingers push the "Like" button on a post or update. Is it because we really "Like" it? Or only for the sake of liking it since we know personally the one who made such post? What kind of posts then that we tend to "Like"?

We're all fine loves by nature. There's no doubt about it. It's part of being a Filipino. However, on the other hand, the "Like" that we make often go off cliff. There are instances in our life when we are low in morale and make a post about it. It may either be due to certain event that occured around us which sometimes are beyond our comprehension -to the point of breaking down. At times like these, we turn to Facebook. Express our depression. And after a couple of minutes, or even seconds, the "Like" section starts picking up numbers.

This and more leads me to think. Let's see what we get to "Like" on Facebook.

From "in a relationship to single".
Who do you think will "Like" this status? Someone must have been waiting for someone to be single again. A long time admirer? Or maybe someone who's been waiting for an opportunity to take his chances to court that someone. They may also include those who hate that someone's boyfriend or girlfriend. In liking that post, are we happy to know that he or she had a bad relationship? Are we in jubilation to know that some relationship has ended? However, so as not to put this in bad light, remember, not all relationships are not that bad at all. Let's give them still the benefit of the doubt.

From "single to in a relationship".
A complete reverse of the first one. Okay, this is fine! Definitely we're all happy to be in a relationship. Who do you think will like that post? I'll make a bet, it's going to be your boyfriend/girlfriend who will hit the "Like" button first, assuming you're both on line at the same time. Oooppss! Still, may be not. What if your girlfriend wish not to let the public that you're her boyfriend? Tie your hands then at your back. You're not allowed to "Like" that. Just watch and wait who will take the bait. You'll find her friends giggling to death about it. Aside from "Like", they'll immediately follow it up with "Who's the lucky guy?". Hold still. You can't "Like" that either.

"I miss him/her so much.."
Ironically, we wish there's something we can about it. As much as we want to lighten the burden of missing someone, all we can do is to "Like" such post. But for sure, the one being missed b\will be there first. Hmnn, do we like someone being away from the one they love?

"Soooo tired and hungry!"
So you like them "soooo tired and hungry"? Oh c'mon! At least we could comfort them by telling them to have some rest from a long day of work or school.

"I will not regret for the rest of my life having a wonderful mom. She's in God's hands now".
Hey! His/her parent is dead! Are you going to "Like" that post? On the other hand, let's justify this a little bit. Are we expressing our "condolence" for what he's going through? Maybe. Most of the time, that's how we take it.

"A car mishap caused injuries to passengers. Expect traffic ahead".
So you're jammed in a traffic. You opened up your mobile phone and saw this post. "Like" it? Okay, you're not anywhere close to that incident. You're sitting comfortably on a couch with your laptop. And there's this post. "Like"? We do "like" that post as a sign of gratitude for providing us the info. But for sure, definitely not for the accident.

There are still more posts almost of the same nature of those we've mentioned above. I must say, I am confident that we don't mean anything stupid "liking" them. There are so many reasons why we "Like" them. But may be we can be more sensitive of what we get to "Like". I'll include myself to that. For I also fall on this kind of stuff.

Just a reminder. "Like" is really a powerful form of expression.Happy "liking" everyone!

Mutya Ng Ibaan 2012 Candidate Ross Mae Hernandez Esplago of Brgy. Lapu-lapu

Brgy. Lapu-lapu's Pride: Ms. Ross Mae Hernandez Esplago.

Profile

Full Name: Ross Mae Hernandez Esplago
Age: 17 y/o
Height: 5'1
Vital Statistics: 32-25-33
Course/Education: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
School: Batangas State university

The Interview

TIA: What would you do if Phil Younghusband knocks at your room’s door?
Ross Mae:  If Phil Younghusband knocks at my room door, I think I’ll freak out and be madly surprised. As in “OH MY GOD!”. Can you imagine that? One big time, handsome popular foot ball player in front me? But before I freak out, I need to ask first myself what he is doing there.  I have to wake myself up and determine if it’s for real. Well, as an ordinary person, I have to congratulate myself how lucky I am. I’m just an ordinary girl. And having him before my door is really something! And I guess I won’t be able to refrain from giving him a hug!

Ross is the youngest among the roster of Mutya candidates at 17.
TIA: What’s the worst pick-up line you’ve ever heard from a guy? When and where was that?
Ross Mae:  I had never heared any worst pick up lines and my friends knew that I don't really like pick up lines, sounds "BADUY!".

TIA: Has anyone broken your heart before? What happened?
Ross Mae:  BIG YES! "THIRD PARTY..(NO FURTHER EXPLANATIONS.HAHAHA)

TIA: What do you think of him now? What will you tell him if given the chance?
Ross Mae:  I already forgot the past, I'm happy right now and still enjoying my life although i have no boyfriend:) I will tell him “thank you for hurting me before. Haha! Just kidding.
https://s-static.ak.facebook.com/images/blank.gif

TIA: What can you do to make a guy hate you?
Ross Mae:  Simple. I’ll just ignore him everytime he attempts to approach or talk with me.

TIA: What’s the first thing you’ll do after the pageant?
Ross Mae:  After the pageant, I will thank all the people for believing and supporting me throughout the competition. It's a big pleasure to be one of the candidates of Mutya ng Ibaan 2012.

Her innocence is totally captivating will never fail to catch anyone's attention.
TIA: Do you cook? If you do, what do you usually cook? Will your future husband be proud of your kitchen prowess?
Ross Mae:  Sometimes. But mostly fried foods only. I’ll admit this, I’m only good at cooking. But never in cooking. Pero mag-aaral ako magluto para sa future husband ko. I’ll make sure that he’ll be proud of me, at least in terms of cooking.

TIA: What part of your house gives you the serenity you’re looking for?
Ross Mae:  My bedroom. Nowhere else. The ambiance is quite and calm. I like it that way.

TIA: Where do you think you’ll have a better life/work, in the Philippines or abroad? Why?
Ross Mae:  In abroad. Yes, I'm just being practical. As we all now, Philippines is suffering from financial crisis which is one of the biggest problem of our country. Yes, we do have job opportunities in here. But the number is not enough to accommodate us. There’s a need to go out.

TIA: How would you feel assuming you failed to win Mutya ng Ibaan 2012?
Ross Mae:  If I fail to win this pageant, I will humbly admit it. I’ll never feel bad about losing in here.  There will always be someone deserving to win the title. Anyway, happy na talaga ako na makasama ako sa pageant. Maybe not again it my entire life that I’ll have this experience again. The competition has taught me a lot. That’s all I need to accept my defeat.

"Treasure other's life as we treasure our own", says Ross Mae.
TIA: What’s the most sarcastic/offensive comment you’ve heard about you since you joined Mutya ng Ibaan 2012?
Ross Mae:  this information is from one of my friends. She heard someone saying “SINO GA IYON? KALIIT-LIIT NAMAN.MUTYA NA GA YAN?”. It’s true naman. Pero kahit paano,. Na-offend din ako. Anyway, that’s all part of the game.

TIA: How are you going to promote your barangay and the Municipality of Ibaan?
Ross Mae:  I am proud of my barangay. It’s a peaceful barangay. Much more of Ibaan itself. I am a proud Ibaeno. And let other people know how great our town is making it known to them the events that we had this 180th Foundation. Everyday, each event, we see the unity and cooperation of the people. It’s really wonderful to see fellow Ibaenos that way.

TIA: What is your stand in Reproductive Health Bill?
Ross Mae:  I totally don’t agree with it. There’s life already even if there’s only a cell in the womb. The single cell has life by itself already. And that life is a gift from God. We don’t have to waste God’s grace, right? Treasure other’s life as we treasure our own.

Being a Mutya candidate is already an achievement. - Ross Mae.
TIA: Is there anything that you want to change in Ibaan?
Ross Mae:  As I can see, Ibaan is at its best these days. That’s why I don’t want to change anything. Mayor Danny Toreja is doing a good job. We may not see immediate and quantum-leap economic developments, I know he’s on it. We all want a better life. But we can’t get that over night, in a snap of a finger or in just three years as a public official. Let the process take its course. Let’s be patient as well.

TIA: Among the candidates, who do you think is the most competitive? Why?
Ross Mae:  It's Ate Raychelle Ann Timan. Although she's not tall enough, she can handle herself with full of confidence.

Mutya Ng Ibaan 2012 Candidate Maricar Joy D. Briones of Brgy. Malainin

Brgy. Malainin's Pride: Ms. Maricar Joy D. Briones.
Profile

Full Name: Maricar Joy D. Briones
Age: 17yrs.old
Height: 5’2
Vital Statistics: 32-25-35
Education/Course/Year: College/BS Information Technology/Second Year
School: Batangas State University
Work: NA
Company: NA
Parents/Guardian: Corita D. Briones

The Interview

TIA:   What would you do if Phil Younghusband knocks at your room’s door?

Maricar Joy:  Hmm..I’ll simply say hello and entertain him. Hehe. That’s all.

TIA:  What’s the worst pick-up line you’ve ever heard from a guy? When and where was that?
Maricar Joy:  Here it goes. This guy told me “TAE KA BA? ANG BAHO MO KASI.. It happened during our discrete math class, an activity hour and the class was hazily answering the problem. That thing really pissed me off.

She may not be everyone's favorite, but Maricar does not give up on anything.
TIA:  Has anyone broken your heart before? What happened?
Maricar Joy:  Yap, I’ve experienced that. I just stood my ground, left him and showed him what he lost. I can’t be sitting like a crying baby for that. I have to be strong.

TIA:  What do you think of him now? What will you tell him if given the chance?
Maricar Joy:  Actually, we are together again. We made up and kissed the fights and misunderstandings we had before. He changed for the better and begged me for another chance. Since I do still love him, I gave him the chance to redeem himself on me. Hopefully, our relationship go sweeter the second time around this time.  https://s-static.ak.facebook.com/images/blank.gif

TIA:  What can you do to make a guy hate you?

Maricar Joy:  Honestly, I can’t think of anything to make a guy hate. I’m just the natural me. As far as I know, I haven’t done anything that turns them off from me. Well, I don’t know. If there will be a time some guy hates me, I’ll make sure it’s not going to be my fault. If they do, again, they can hate the natural me.

TIA:  What’s the first thing you’ll do after the pageant?
Maricar Joy:  I’ll sincerely thank God for giving me the self confidence and courage I needed. And of course, my family. I’ll hug them the best way I can for their unwavering support.
"Failure is just part of growing up", says Maricar.

TIA:  Do you cook? If you do, what do you usually cook? Will your future husband be proud of your kitchen prowess?

Maricar Joy:   You got it right, I do cook. Most of the time, I fry chicken, pork, fish and others. For main course, I can cook adobong manok and ginisang kalabasa. I may have the thing to be in the kitchen, unfortunately, not all the time. Well, I think my future husband will be proud for me because at least, I know how to cook! Haha.

TIA:  What part of your house gives you the serenity you’re looking for?
Maricar Joy:  My bedroom. That’s the only place where I can say “I’m already the queen of my empire!”. LOL!

TIA:  Where do you think you’ll have a better life/work, in the Philippines or abroad? Why?
Maricar Joy:  I’d better prefer the Philippines. Ever since, I’d never dream of going abroad just to be rich. Just like what they said there’s no better place than home…I feel safer here.

TIA:  How would you feel assuming you failed to win Mutya ng Ibaan 2012?
Maricar Joy:  It’s okay. Failure is just part of growing up. I’ll still thank God even if I fail to win. The point is, I did my best and showed the competitive side of me in this contest. And take note, I didn’t give up to the very end. It’s better losing despite giving everything than win something without working hard for it.

Maricar stands firm against Reproductive Health Bill.
TIA:  What’s the most sarcastic/offensive comment you’ve heard about you since you joined Mutya ng Ibaan 2012?
Maricar Joy:  For one, they said I’m not competitive and fall short of height requirement. I just turned deaf on those discouraging words. Thanks to my ever supportive relatives. They fought for me and didn’t fail to support my financial needs. That makes me love them more.

TIA:  How are you going to promote your barangay and the Municipality of Ibaan?
Maricar Joy:  The municipality of ibaan? Well as you can see, this is the home of beautiful people, the home of God-fearing people and famous kulambo and the home where you will see the unity of municipality and the church. Barangay Malainin? This is simply the home of well-known people, talented persons, and the beautiful nature (eg.Himamawo Spring).

TIA:  What is your stand in Reproductive Health Bill?
Maricar Joy:  As a Roman Catholic, I’m not in favor of that. The usage of pills and artificial contraceptives also mean killing innocent lives. If the community really cares for our population, then start cooperating and learn the basics of the family planning.

TIA:  Is there anything that you want to change in Ibaan?
Maricar Joy:  Nothing actually. Because our very good Mayor Danny Toreja is already doing a good job in creating changes for the good of our town.

TIA:  Among the candidates, who do you think is the most competitive? Why?
Maricar Joy:  I think it’s Ate Raychelle Timan of Brgy. Palindan. Even if she’s not that tall at tall, she has the guts to face the crowd and able to keep her coolness.
