Mayor And Barangay Chairmen Leave Office

Municipality of Ibaan Mayor Danny Toreja and all Barangay Chairmen left office and relinquished the Local Government Code-granted power and authority last night for the love of the game, May 22.

But they didn't go that far. They only played basketball as game-opener for Paliga Ng Bayan: Inter-Office and Inter-Organization Basketball/Volleyball League 2011. The Mayor's Office went into collision against Liga Ng Barangay with the former winning over the latter.

Mayor Toreja, playing for the first time after long years of absence in hard court, connected five points for the game. He made one outside jump shot in the first quarter, then three points in the 4th quarter.

Barangay Chairmen's Liga Ng Mga Barangay on the other hand, headed by ABC President Salustiano Portugal, defied age, bulging belly and baldness tried hard to put up against the players of the Mayor's Office.

First two quarter of the game was a close fight. But the younger players of the Mayor's Office pushed the team farther. Brgy. Chairman Dela Pena of Brgy. Sto. Nino made most of the points productions for Liga Ng Mga Barangay.

The game may appear to be not as competitive as the recently concluded SK Basketball League. But everyone was happy to able to play again after leaving their arsenal in dungeons for a long time.

Barangay Chairmen admitted feeling great during the game.The sweat they had just brought them back to their younger years.
