Statue of Saint James The Greater At Brgy. Catandala

Saint James The Greater.
Reaffirming the community’s faith to Saith James the Greater, the brangay government Brgy. Catandala is installing his image beside the ascending part of the road leading to the barangay.

According to Barangay Chairman Jose Bicol, the said project, which is expected to be a big as the one installed at the entrance of Saint James the Greater Parish, is in honor of Ibaan’s defender of faith and patron saint, as well as to strengthen the people’s devotion to the latter.

The image of Saint James The Greater shall be installed facing the unpredictable river that separates Brgy. Catandala and Brgy. Balanga. In the past, the river has been frightening the people with the danger and risks it carry specially during rainy days. With Saint James on top, this will somehow provide the people with guiding light at faith as they cross the river and pass through the dark road at night, much more with the road along the mountain cliff.

Currently, construction of the image’s platform is in progress. Part of the cliff is being flattened and tightened where the foundations are to be established.

“Where just starting it out with the base and platform. We still have to solicit and as donations for the image”, says Barangay Chairman Bicol.

In this view, Brgy. Chairman Bicol is then making an appeal to those with good hearts to support their project since it is not only for his community, but also for Ibaan and for devotees of Saint James The Greater as a whole.

Moreover, the image shall also serve as Barangay Catandala’s landmark which, in turn, is expected to boost the community’s faith, popularity and pride. This also includes other barangays in the area such as Brgy. Mabalor and Brgy. Panghayaan.
