The Interview

TIA:  What keeps you awake late at night?
Kimberly: There are a lot of thoughts that keeps me awake late at night. Aside from the requirements I have to complete for my graduation this coming April, not to mention the preparations we have been making for Ibaan’s 180th Founding Anniversary. They’ve been giving me sleepless nights. I myself is having difficulty balancing them with my schedule. Much more, the pressure is overwhelming being one of the candidates for Mutya ng Ibaan 2012. For now, Mutya is on top of my priority list.

Kim finds no reason to hide things from her mom.
TIA:  Assuming you have a boyfriend, are you going to let him kiss you in a movie house? Why?
Kimberly: Of course not! I won’t allow him to take advantage of me by kissing me in a movie house. I think that’s a very disrespectful way of a man to treat his girlfriend. Even if he’s my boyfriend, he should know his limitations. I’d rather have a box of popcorn alone than bring along a boyfriend who would treat me that way.

TIA:  What is it that you can’t talk about with your parents?
Kimberly: I don’t remember any instance wherein I kept a secret from my mother. I actually consider her as my trusted confidante and adviser. With that, I guess I have no reason to hide things from her. I know she will always be the first person to understand and she will always be the first one to whom I’ll be telling my stories. She’s not only a “mom” to me, she’s my “fairy mother”. The trust and respect between me and my mother won’t lead to hiding something from each other.

TIA:  What’s the most embarrassing moment in your life?
Kimberly: Okay, here’s what happened. It was my 18th birthday. One of my closest friends recounted before me all of the things/favor, big and small, she has done for me only for the reason that I committed a very simple mistake that day. I don’t know. But I felt like I’ve done the most disgusting thing my entire life with that. I might have done a simple mistake, but I didn’t realize it made a lot of difference and has affected the people around me. That’s a lesson learned for me –that I have to be careful and be mindful of everything I do. I wish not to hurt my friends again or anyone around me.

TIA:  What makes a responsible netizen?
Kimberly: A responsible netizen is someone who takes responsibility with all of the posts/comments he/she is putting or uploading on the internet. The world has gone smaller and the world has become our neighbor with the coming of internet. Almost everyone now has an access to internet. And whatever we post/upload on the internet will be viewed by the public. Post something that will help change lives and for the betterment of the community.  Instead of using internet to stain the reputation of other people, use it with integrity and sensibility.

Kim is proud of her fellow Catandaleños' being warm and hospitable.

TIA:  What should a man do to win your heart?
Kimberly: Be funny, caring, respectful, outgoing, athletic and lastly, he needs to prove me that he really loves me. That’s just me.

TIA:  What turns you off during a date?
Kimberly: I hate going out with a guy who are smoking beside me. Its scent stinks and stays with one’s clothes. I don’t want to be a walking chimney with the cigarette’s scent all over me. Also, I hate it when the guy can’t keep his fingers off the keypad composing and sending SMS. We’re on a date and he’s supposed to look after me.

TIA:  With what you are now, is there anything that you would like to say to your elementary teachers?
Kimberly:  Elementary education serves as the stepping stone and launch pad for one to learn the basics of life. It provides the very foundation of our character and morality. I myself learned a lot during my elementary days. It has made me what I am now. And I would like to express my gratitude to all my elementary teachers for their patience, and for tirelessly imparting us, in behalf of my elementary classmates, the knowledge and skills that I have today.

TIA:  Do you think Ibaan calendar is worth it? Why?
Kimberly: Yes it is. Ibaan calendar showcases the richness of culture of our town, the product which we will be proud to promote, the recent development through infrastructure, and the beautiful scenery which can attract tourists.

Kim says she's ready to face any challenges.
TIA:  How are you going to promote your barangay and the Municipality of Ibaan?
Kimberly: The people of Barangay Catandala are known for being warm and hospitable. Likewise, the municipality is considered as one of the most peaceful municipalities in the Province of Batangas. All of which are conducive enough for tourists and investors to visit our town. And to promote that, I’ll try writing stories about our town and have them posted on the internet for everyone to see.

TIA:  What do you think of Chief Justice Renato Corona?
Kimberly: As I see him in the trial court, I find him a man of principle and dignity who doesn’t easily give up. He knows how to defend himself and how to fight for his rights. Although he’s being accused of amassing ill-gotten wealth, he remains firm and steadfast. I appreciate him that way.

TIA:  What’s the difference between winning and losing?
Kimberly: Winning means you got a big break, excel with others and with an encompassing feeling of fulfillment. Loosing on the other hand should include the ability to accept defeat and remain optimistic to overcome other life’s challenges. Win or lose, what’s important is that life should go one. There will always be another “second-time-around”. Hope remains.

Kim consideres Ibaan calendar as a "must-buy" item.
TIA:  Do you wish to win Mutya ng Ibaan 2012? Why?
Kimberly: Yes of course. Just like my co-candidates, I do hope to win Mutya ng Ibaan 2012. This will not only bring honor to my family, but also to our barangay. And I would like to take this as an opportunity to establish harmonious relationship with other barangays in Ibaan and with nearby municipalities.

TIA:  Is there anything that you wish to change in Ibaan?
Kimberly: Since I’m living in Barangay Catandala, also known as Kabilang Ilog, how I wish that the once beautiful, clean and refreshing water would be restored. The river that we used to play around with has now vanished. Gone are the days of clean, fresh, and blue river water. It’s a sad fact to accept. I wish I could turn back time and change the river back to its old glory. It’s once considered as Ibaan’s treasure. I want it that way. But how?

TIA:  Among the candidates, who do you think is the most competitive? Why?
For me, all of the candidates are competitive. The girls are all deserving and excellent.
