Emotional Elementary Graduation At Brgy. Palindan

The Valedictorian.
In one of those rare moments when one school year comes to an end, mixed emotions filled the air with Brgy. Palindan Elementary School graduating students, parents, and teachers bursting into tears without hesitation that made the event more memorable to everyone. Compared to other schools with either open ground or covered court to hold graduation rites, PES's limited space blew up into big dome of emotions; bringing out more of the human side of the people who came to witness the fall of curtains as the students bid goodbye to their second home for the last six years of their lives.

Graduations are considered as the culmination of every blood, sweat, and time spend for everyone -students, teachers and parents. Competition among students grows with each passing year to bag the most coveted honor awards. Thus, comes graduation day, its awarding becomes the highlight, boosting the morale of both parents and awarded students. But PES' closing rites was different. A great twist transpired.

one of the graduating students.
Coming to the event late, we noticed each students clad with a ribbon necklace. We though it was natural and natural. But it was actually extra ordinary. In one part of the ceremonies, one by one, the students went on stage with their parent, took off the ribbon, gave it to the latter, then made the traditional "mano" as a sign of gratitude to their parents. Others cried. Others hug each other. But everyone was on smile. With this, credit goes to teachers.

Graduating students on tears.
The scene was followed by the batch's graduation song. However, To everyone's surprise, the students brought number of chairs on stage while in fact they're supposed to just stand there. After lining up the chairs, students held some of teachers' and guests' hand and led them to take the seat. Afterwards, banquet of flowers where given.

The peak of the event has come. Time for the graduation. The music played. And there it was. Tears flowed as they struggle to go along with the song.

It was a day to remember. Congratulations everyone!

Plans are currently being undertaken by the barangay officials to transfer the school to a bigger location. The barangay has already raised around P1.8 million for the project through the efforts and collaboration of Brgy. Palindan Chairman Cesar Marasigan, the Barangay Council and Cong. Dong Mendoza of 4th District.
