The Interview

TIA: What did your parents told you the first time they heard the news that you’re joining Mutya ng Ibaan 2012?
Joycelyn: At first they are not eager for me to join, but eventually they gave me permission. Everyone knows it's not easy to become part of Mutya ng Ibaan. Aside from being costly, it's tiring as well, specially the rehearsals. But now, they are very supportive.

Joycy believes that trust among partners is needed in a relationship.
TIA:  What’s your fondest memory during your high school days?
Joycelyn: My entire high school life is so memorable. I love it when our class/section has some occasion to celebrate together. Christmas party, for example. Every year, we never fail to have one. After a long year of exhausting academic requirements, it's the only time when we can really sit back, relax, chill and enjoy the music, food and everyone's company. How i really wish to see my classmates again for another Christmas party. Unfortunately, we've taken different roads now. Only time can tell. I miss them too.

TIA:  Is there any song that best describes who and what you are now?
Joycelyn: Reflection by Christina Aguilera.

TIA:  What extreme sport you wish to try? Why?
Joycelyn: I wish to try an extreme sport like sky diving. Just like what they say, "sky is the limit". And I wish to experience the freedom it gives. No hassles. No tiring urban and city life. No concrete jungle around. Just you, wind, clouds and the sky. As if like there's nothing to worry about. I find it adventurous.

TIA:  Assessing yourself, what do you think is your best asset to win Mutya ng Ibaan 2012?
Joycelyn: I guess my confidence, believing in myself and having faith to God. God will always be my fortress and stronghold. I've been through a lot of things in my life. With Mutya ng Ibaan pageant just around the corner, I believe God will still be there for me, for us.

TIA:  Why do you think some men become unfaithful to their partners?
Joycelyn: Because they are not contented on what their partners can give. And lack of trust with one another. It's very important to have that in a relationship. On the other hand, it will also depend on how one treat his partner. Things happen for and due to one reason or another. It's a give-and-take situation, not a one way process. Give what is due to your partner. However, we sometimes forget to do this, on the belief that our partner loves us. It's not enough. We have to do our part as well. And if we fail to do that, don't be surprised to know our partners being unfaithful.

TIA:  Who’s your role model? Why?
Joycelyn: My role model is my parents. No more. No less. I've seen how hard they have been working for our family. The world is not enough for me to forsake them. They're everything I am now. If not for them, I won't be here in this world anyway.

She knows where she stand and where she's going.
TIA:  What are the things that make you feel good being a woman?
Joycelyn: I feel like a real woman  every time my parents tell me “ Malaki ka na, alam mo na ang tama at mali”. That means they trust more than ever now. Much more when it comes to boys. Haha! Just kidding. I mean, they know I can make rational decisions. And I won't waste that. I'll be responsible with everything I do. Such freedom to make decisions completes my being a woman.

TIA:  What will you choose for dinner, hawot/sapsap/dilis or fried chicken? Why?
Joycelyn: I will choose fried chicken. Who knows, that might be my last dinner. So I'd rather enjoy the part of having dinner -fried chicken! I'm not being "sosyal" or whatever you may call it. I just want to enjoy everything at hand. Every day is an opportunity to enjoy life. And fried chicken is part of it. Haha!

TIA:  What do you think of the women posing for men’s magazine like FHM?
Joycelyn: I think they are proud and happy showing their assets and beauty to the public. I envy their guts.

TIA:  What will be your reasons for you not to join Pinoy Big Brother?
Joycelyn: I wouldn’t join PBB. Kasi gusto ko nman na my natitirang privacy sa buhay ko, at ayoko na buong mundo alam yun.Everyone is entitled to have and keep their privacy. There are reasons for that. Watching the show, sometimes I don't understand why they have to go through things that Big Brother is telling them. It's like one person can change his life in a short period of time or in a snap of a finger. But of course, I believe Big Brother are only doing things for the betterment of the participants. But still, I am not joining PBB.

"Ibaan is improving and there's nothing that I want to change", say Joy.
TIA:  How are you going to promote your barangay and the Municipality of Ibaan?
Joycelyn: Brg. San Agustin is rich with sugarcane plantation. We also have light livestock industry around which, we can't deny it, has become a source of income. We also have a clean and green barangay. For Ibaan as a whole, there are a lot of things that we can proud of -the traditions, places, food and others. To promote that, I would like to adapt Department of Tourism's tagline "Its mor fun in Ibaan". I thing that will ring a bell for everyone.

TIA:  What makes PNoy a bad President?
Joycelyn: Philippine President Noynoy Aquino (PNoy) is bad for the economy. The incumbent president is not at all focused on building a solid financial system for the country. Instead, he keeps on pursuing the prosecution of his political enemy, former President and Congresswoman, Gloria Arroyo.

TIA:  Is there anything that you want to change in Ibaan?
Joycelyn: Nothing, because it is improving.

TIA:  Among the candidates, who do you think is the most competitive? Why?
Joycelyn: For me, lahat my karapatan manalo. But as far as I know, ItThe most competitive is Ms. Palindan. She has joined a lot of pageants before. And I'm sure she knows what to do and what she's doing right now. However, not until the winner has been announced, all is fair and square for all of us in Mutya ng Ibaan 2012 pageant.
