The Interview

TIA:   Assuming some guy is courting you. What do you want him to do to prove his worth?
Maria Kriselda:  I need not much of everything for a guy to prove his worth. I believe everything comes after “Respect.” I came from a very fine and traditional family and I still believe on the traditional way. For example, not any guy will be able to come any closer to me not unless he ask first for my parents' permission to court me. It takes a lot of bravery and guts for a guy to show up before my parents and tell them of his intentions. I think that would really be lovely for him to prove his worth.

Kriselda perfectly knows how to do the cat walk.
TIA:  What are the usual everyday contents of your bag?
Maria Kriselda:  As a nursing student, I always have this big bag with me loaded with stuffs like books, pens, fillers, planner, wallet, and my paraphernalia. They fill most of my bag's space and burden me everyday. Of course I don't bring them during rehearsals for Mutya ng Ibaan 2012. My "kikay" stuff reigns it all. I need them at least to look presentable and gorgeous at all times. But not to exaggerate things, I only usually have this compact powder. I'm comfortable with it already.

For me, I am most beautiful without make up because it gets to show the real me and my flaw gives me my certain uniqueness and distinction among others. Coming from the medical field influences me a lot with in the area of health and hygiene. Rationally,  I have my toothbrush, toothpaste, facial wash and sanitizer with me at all time. And there will never come a time that my Rosary with be out of the picture. It gives me this feeling of guidance and protection whenever and wherever I am.

TIA:  Do you do your laundry? In the future, are you going to make your husband do the laundry?
Maria Kriselda:  I sometimes do my laundry when my mom goes to Batangas. I could still remember last summer. It was really me who's doing the laundry for me and my brother. It's our summer classes and we have to do things on our own. When two people enter the sacrament of marriage, they accept the fact already that they are both equal in the eyes of God and I know letting my husband do the laundry would not make him less of a person. I know it is the wife’s role to fulfil such task. But sometimes, the husband should also know when to lend his help.

An independent thinker who believes on the importance of friendship.
TIA:  What are the ingredients of a long lasting relationship?
Maria Kriselda:  I’ve never been into a relationship and to answer this question really is mind boggling. But basing from my parents long lasting relationship, I believe that there are a lot of important ingredients for them to last that long. Friendship would be the one of the strongest foundations of a relationship because there would come a time that both of you will fall out of love but the friendship will put you back together, I guess. If there is respect, love and happiness would also follow because conflicts and problems would rarely happen. Above everything else, trust and faith in God will keep the relationship long for God will always be there to enlighten our hearts.

TIA:  If given the chance, will you join Survivor Philippines? Why?
Maria Kriselda:  I love to take risk and explore what the world has to offer and given the chance to join Survivor Philippines, I would definitely join and have fun. The reality game show has been showing the "never-say-die" character of Filipinos. We dream. We strive. And we survive. And for, that's important in life. Joining Survivor Philippines would be a life changing event. It will be and eye opener as well for us to see what is reality from not.

Kriselda has set her sight to be always on the higher ground.
TIA:  Where do you think is the most romantic place in Ibaan to have a date? Why?
Maria Kriselda:  The park near Ibaan church is the most romantic place in Ibaan to have a date. I’ve been seeing a lot of couples having fun while having their “love vibes” there and I think it is but suitable for them to have these little chitchats for fun. The park is open and accessible to everyone and that maybe made the place on top.

TIA:  Have you ever been drunk? When and where?
Maria Kriselda:  My parents are strict about alcohol consumption and so I only get to drink occasionally but not to the point of being drunk. I only get to drink here in Batangas during holidays but never on random days. As a student nurse, I believe I should be a role model myself to the youth that we should be responsible enough to drink only what our bodies could tolerate.

TIA:  What are the signs that make a guy gay?
Maria Kriselda:  Signs are not enough to define a guy as a gay because everyone is individualized and what we perceive as a gay act may not be gayish to that person himself. I’ve got a lot gay friends here and in Manila and we have this certain “gay radar” within ourselves that could easily identify a gay from not. For me, a guy is gay when he is way vain than me, when he puts on make up on random days, when he likes to meet my guy friends rather than my girl friends and maybe when his gestures speak for himself.

She knows how to look back where she came from.
TIA:  What can you sacrifice for your family?
Maria Kriselda:  This is not a question perse but an obligation every member of a family should fulfil and stand for. I consider my family on top next to God and I can sacrifice everything for them. My life would never be this perfect and wonderful without them and I would do everything whatever it takes to keep them safe and happy all the time.

TIA:  The next Mutya ng Ibaan competition will be on 2017. What will be your advice to those aspiring to join Mutya ng Ibaan?
Maria Kriselda:  It takes continuous trainings and preparations to be part of this prestigious beauty pageant. Dreams should not defer. You have to make things happen and that for me is the best advice I could ever give to everyone. You have to love yourself, be proud of who you are and let the world know the real you.

Joining Mutya ng Ibaan is one of the best turning points of my life. In here, I get to enrich and enhance more of my skills, my attitude and most of all you get to touch other people’s lives and that for me is at its best. You just have to be prepared, be confident and poised, stand tall and never lose your hope and have faith in God for He will never let you down.

TIA:  What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a Facebook account?
Maria Kriselda:  I’ve got one facebook account myself and it really is helpful for reaching out to friends and relatives from other countries or those that I haven’t seen for years. In here, I get to express the real me where I get to post status of how I feel, different pictures that speak of what I do and also a virtual place where I meet a lot of friends which I found the most interesting. The downside only of a facebook account is that your life gets to be publicized to everyone. I don’t really filter my friend requests and so my account is that public to everyone. Sometimes, I just have to pick things to post because having one entails a lot responsibility as an account user.

Kriselda just won't stop not until she's able to perfect things at hand.
TIA:  How are you going to promote your barangay and the Municipality of Ibaan?
Maria Kriselda:  I came from a very small and low profiled barangay in Ibaan named Brgy. Panghayaan and for me to promote my place entails cooperation with the brgy officials, the residents of my place and the Municipality of Ibaan also. Since birth, “Suman” has always been the food of our plates and that would be most useful to promote Panghayaan. We can have this certain organization that would make and sell “suman” or rice cake not just only in Ibaan but also around the Philippines too.

My barangay loves to plant and nurture flowers too and maybe after some time we could have this flower garden and trees that would serve as a tourist destination in our place would also bring income to our residents. Lastly, I could promote my place by inviting people to come, see and play in our newly built covered court. For me, it’s one of the biggest and furnished court in Ibaan and it could really contain hundreds of people on it. Organizing inter barangay basketball summer leagues would also help my Brgy Panghayaan to be known in Ibaan.

Will take the crown as Mutya ng Ibaan 2012?
TIA:  Are you in favor of divorce? Why?
Maria Kriselda:  I am not favour in divorce because I respect that sanctity of the Sacrament of Marriage. A couple is bound by God’s blessings and it is only Him who’s got the right to make it null and void.

TIA:  Is there anything that you want to change in Ibaan?
Maria Kriselda:  Change is inevitable and Ibaan has to undergo it for the place to experience its optimum development. Coming from a different environment in Manila made it easy for me to identify the weaknesses of the place. First is that it lacks infrastructures and food chains such as Jollibee, Mini Stop, McDo, Seven Eleven and the likes. Second is that our place lacks places to go to when you’re stress and tired and you just want to wind up such as coffee shops, fashion boutiques and the likes.

Lastly is that I would want to give importance to the Health in Ibaan. I know that the municipality has been organizing medical missions for years but as I nurse, I feel the lack of medical assistance being offered to the people. I know our place has its weakness but that shouldn’t stop Ibaan to achieve its triumph. If the people of Ibaan together with the investors work together, I know that we could aide to these given situations.

TIA:  Among the candidates, who do you think is the most competitive? Why?
Maria Kriselda:  I find Ms. Mabalor the most competitive candidate having that physique and height of a model that gives her edge to this competition.
